why we do what we doFirstly, it makes us and others happy. A pretty good starting point we reckon.
We also love sharing stories - and for us the most exciting, inspiring and happy way to do that is through live theatre. Theatre changes us. We look at old ideas afresh and new ideas with open eyes. It is a conversation, it brings about debate and the more debate we can have, the better. Theatre must be approachable and available to everybody, understandable and, most important of all, entertaining. It has to be fun to make as well as watch. In a time when money is scarce, when people’s priorities have shifted, we have had to ask oursleves if theatre is really necessary. And we think, YES! It is needed now more than ever. Why? Because theatre is about experiencing something together - sharing stories - and those stories help us understand alien situations, ideas and feelings letting us connect with people and the world around us, to better comprehend this tricky world we live in. At Kindred Theatre we do that through the performers skills, their willingness to share their work and a desire to spark the audience's imagination putting them at the centre of everything we do. We are about simplicity and honesty . At Kindred Theatre we share moving, beautiful, passionate, fearful, funny, inspiring, controversial and joyous stories, to be told in village halls, community spaces, theatres…wherever people want to gather. Anywhere, any place and at any time. |
a new company...C P Hallam and Dan Willis (founders of Kindred Theatre) have more than 35 years of professional theatre between them, as actor, director, musical director, composer and small scale producing. This wealth of experience has come together in the setting up of Kindred Theatre.
