workshops, classes and development

Picture
Getting others involved is a major step towards understanding the fun that can be found in theatre, both professionally and non-professionally. Joining in can make theatre more relevant to our lives; it can clarify and illuminate, but above all, its a great laugh.

Both Chris and Dan have considerable experience in running workshops, classes and development sessions including Stanislavsky for Beginners for audiences at Nottingham Playhouse, Shakespeare Simplified for young students of drama, Gender and Politics in Theatre  for students at Colchester FE College and University of Essex and sessions on adapting stories and devising.

We will soon be launching a monthly storytelling evening in south London, full details can be found on the Storytelling page.

Through Kindred Theatre we  run workshops exploring methods of working, improving personal and performance skills and discovering new ways of making theatre. We are very happy to work with individuals, organisations and groups to bring that about.

Get in touch and lets talk about how we can do that.

specific workshops have included...

playful acting

Working with the actors of Mighty Heart Theatre Company in Manchester for three days to explore an intuitive performance response to the show they were rehearsing.

Chris also helped in refining the structure of the piece.

intuitive acting

A four day course on Intuitive Acting for ICAT in Bolton.

This is a way of working which puts the actors creative abilities at the forefront of the rehearsal process, trusting them to constantly invent and take a powerful ownership of the work.

actor/audience relationship

This was a series of workshops that looked at how actors communicate and connect to audiences and how to keep it at the fore in all their work. It explores other performance methods such as stand-up, clowning and physical theatre, genres where connection is strong, and how those skills can be transferred to more traditional theatre and how it can transform it into something more engaging.

It was part of the development for the Perkin Warbeck project.
